The Australian Government’s Insulation Stimulus Package is improving the energy efficiency of Australian homes – making them more comfortable, reducing their carbon footprint, cutting energy waste and helping householders save on energy bills.
The Insulation Stimulus Package gives up to $1,200 to Australian Householders, including Owner-Occupiers, Landlords and Tenants of currently uninsulated homes or homes with really ineffective ceiling insulation.
For many homes, using the insulation rebate to get free (or nearly free) insulation is the simplest and most cost effective way to make a house more energy efficient, keeping it cooler in summer and warmer in winter. It can save up to 40 per cent in heating and cooling bills. Insulation can also reduce condensation on walls and ceilings, and may lead to improved health outcomes.
Steps to get your insulation free
First, check your eligibility to make sure you qualify for the $1,200 insulation rebate.
Second, get familiar with the process involved, so you know what to expect, and what to do. (Warning, you have to sign documents to get your insulation free, so be prepared and know what you are signing).
Third, get started. You need at least 2 written quotes from government-approved installers in order to get your insulation free.
